this sounds as if you may have a bad crank sensor
these will do this sometimes when they go bad
and most times,not give a code

In your experience will the ECU normally cause a check engine light while the crank sensor doesn't, or do you just normally find the crank sensor being the culprit in instances like this?
this is a common sign of a bad crank sensor
i dont think it is your computer
and,,there is no good test for the crank sensor when they do this
it will need to be replaced
