Hello, I am Randall. I have reviewed your question and working on it now.

First 2 complete diiferent units, part #'s and mountings. I cant possible define all the differences but they are completely different and will not interchange. The grand Vitara is also offered in 2 different configurations

the first 2 pics are the XL7 and the last is exploded of the Vitara

is there a difference between the 2.5L 2007 V6 and the 2L straight 4? my supplier insists that the XLS transfercase will fit on the V6 vitara (same engine)?? my mechanic did not even recognise the XLS transfercase as such, mistook it for a differential, apparently it is for a "traverse" engine? if the V6 grand vitara and the XLS have the same engine, why not the same transfer box? is the V6 vitara not a "traverse" engine?

You have me a bit confused, You are now saying XLS and not XL7

The 2007 Vitara is a forward engine 2.7 litre

the 2007 XL7 is a transverse engine 3.6 litre

Unsure where you are getting the 2.0 litre

We are not camraing apples with apples so not the transfer cases will not interchange

I am a tech and not in parts so cant get too much into details etc but I was answering your questions about the 07 Vitara and 07 XL7 and not,, the transfer cases are not near the same at all
