1998 Suzuki Grand Vitara: started and ran..stoped

This answer was rated:

I have a 1998 Suzuki Grand Vitara with a 1995 cm3 engine (2 Liter) gasoline. Today it started and ran for 2 sec. and stoped. Cranking it, it seem to ignite a litle, but wont start.
what should i look for?
Ok first thing to check is fuel pressure and timing . Also when was the last tune up done ?

Ok the you need to check fuel pressure and timing. See if it starts with starting fluid sprayed in the intake . If it does most likely this is a faulty fuel pump. If it does not start it's more of a spark issue timing jumped or shorted coil etc. These are what you need to check next to fix this issue . These are the next steps.Hoped this helped. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.

Does this engine have a timing belt?
It's showing you have a timing belt in my service manual.
