car has a hard time staying started when the engine is cold. I start it, then when I step on the gas it dies. One it is warmed up it seems okay but the idle varies between fast and slow

This is usually a bad engine temp sensor, it tells the computer when the engine is cold and adds more fuel like a choke does in an engine with a carburator.


Have your mechanic check ot replace this sensor as this is by far the most common cause.
