i bought a valve cover gasket kit but it had no instructions. Where do the o rings go?

Hello and thank you for using justanswer.

The o-rings go on the bottom side of the valve cover around each of the bolt openings.

what about the large o-rings?

Large o rings go around the openings for the spark plug holes. Bottom of valve cover looks like picture below.

To prevent oil seepage when installing a new gasket be sure cylinder head sealing surfaces are completely clean and de-greased. Apply RTV sealant on the contact surface of the cylinder head before installing the valve cover with new gasket to the cylinder head.
