Rodeo: turnover..If I keep my foot on the gas it stays started..cuts

Customer Question

When I try to crank my Rodeo, I get a quick turnover of the engine and then nothing. If I turn the switch on and off it will either do it again or it will crank. If I keep my foot on the gas it stays started but once you take your foot off it cuts off. This is an intermittent problem and it seem to happen when the engine is cold more than when it is warmed up. after awhile it will just start when you stop or get back in it or maybe it acts up again can someone please help.

What is the voltage on the battery when the car is not running?
What is it when it is running?

You can do these checks with a voltmeter. You can find them at any auto parts store or even Walmart.
