2001 suzuki esteem: i need a new converter..hills..roads..shift

Resolved Question:

i was told that i need a new converter for my 2001 suzukie esteem because it doesnt get the power to go up has no problems on flat roads even the freewy..but it lugs and will only shift to a certain gear going up hills .. making the engine work hard..

Hello and welcome to Justanswer,

The problem you are describing does sound like the converter is restricted and it would be most noticeable under load of climbing . The best way to know if they are correct is to loosen the exhaust pipe at the manifold where it connects till you have a healthy leak and then drive it up hill, if the converter is plugged you should notice a difference in the power level and if so the converter will need replacement.
