First of all have you cleared the code only to have it return?

Is the car running normally?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.
apparently the code was cleared but there is a second code that was behind this one that won't show until this one is dealt with (that's what the guy who read the code said). the reason we first noticed it was that the excelaration is poor and the car is driving sluggish
Expert:  Neal replied 5 years ago.

This is something that needs to be handled by an experienced Mini mechanic or the dealer. This most likely going to be a problem with a solenoid under the timing cover that controls timing. Here is the info for that code.

A P0014 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:

  • Incorrect camshaft timing
  • Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system
  • Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber
  • Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)
