2004 Hyundai Santa Fe: Oil is changed every 3,000 miles

Customer Question

I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 with 113,000 miles. Oil is changed every 3,000 miles. The people that change my oil say I need to use an engine cleaning product because the drained oil is very dark. Should I listen to them or just keep doing what I'm doing? If I need to add something to the oil for cleaning the engine, what product would you recommend? I have been using Pennzoil 5w-30.

BigBob :

Did they say it was "sludgy" or just very dark?
