Your foot off the gas while up shifting the F1 transmission..clutch

This answer was rated:

If you take your foot off the gas while up shifting the F1 transmission will that help reduce clutch wear?

Hello and thank you for using Just answer! I'm Billy and i will assist you with this. Feel free to ask if you need any further info.

Billy :

The clutch is mostly worn during the gear shifting...as it disengages an then engages, at this time,

Billy :

the clutch disc would slip causing the wear.

Billy :

If you remove your foot off the accelerator pedal, it would reduce the torque transmitted through the clutch, thus causing the clutch disc to be worn a bit less.....

Billy :

So basically, yes, it would wear less, that way.......

Billy :

But it would still get worn......

Billy :

do you require further info on the matter.....................
