Neal : That is normal the fan will run as needed even after the truck is turned off. It stays on until the coolant temp reaches a certain temp. Just make sure it is not running hot. And if the fan seems unusually load have it checked to make sure it is ok. But it is pretty loud so it is probably fine.
Customer:

this is extremely noisy though and i am worried it will lead to expensive repair why would engine need so much cooling temp guage on dash seems fine

thanks but this does seem really loud even though temp guage on dash shows normal

Have someone listen to it that is familiar and make sure the fan is not going bad. A garage will probably take a quick look and not charge you.
