2002 dodge neon: SE. Occasionally..slow speeds..steering wheel

Customer Question

2002 dodge Neon SE. Occasionally the steering is not responsive at slow speeds. The steering wheel can be turned as much as a full revolution before the front tires respond. The steering wheel isn't hard to turn, the front wheels just don't respond. There are no trouble codes set. THe check engine light is out. The steering wheel is not loose and the u joint under the steering column is in good shape

HI, well from what you described it sounds like there is either a worn rack and pinion and the gears are not meshed all the time or the rotary valve could be damaged. When they did your alignment did they tell you anything about the rack and pinion being loose? I would recommend installing a re manufactured rack and pinion. Best of luck with this, if there is anything else i can help you with just ask. Bill
