2001 rodeo: mornings..warmed..gas speeds up on its own

Customer Question

Hi, I am having problems keeping my 2001 rodeo started in the mornings. It puffs alot then shuts back off and when I do get it warmed up, I have to press the gas pedal really hard because it does not want to move at first and then it speeds up on its own?

Welcome to just I'm here to help you and your 100% satisfaction is my goal. Most commonly this is caused by either a faulty leaking fuel pressure regulator or leaking intake manifold gasket. Using a fuel pressure test gauge start the vehicle let it run warm up and after shutting it off observe the pressure and see if it drops back to zero if it does you most likely have a leaking pressure regulator
