300td: the central locking (no alarm)..lock/unlock..drivers door

Resolved Question:

I am having no end of trouble with the central locking (no alarm) on my 98 Disco 300Tdi. The actuators on all doors operate but not enough to reliably lock/unlock.Same result with radio or key in drivers door.I have checked the adjustment as per the Service Manual with marginal improvement. Looks voltage-related as works better when engine just shutdown (surface charge) than after a couple of hours. As far as I know it is factory with Vision actuators.Any assistance will be appreciated.

Ok usually this is caused by a faulty drivers actuator it gives the signal to the other actuators to operate. Also any aftermarket electronics added to the car?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Not that I know of. It has always been intermittent since I got it 3 yrs ago. The problem appears to be related to the current actually being applied to the actuators being insufficient to overcome the drag of all the locking mechanisms. All doors clunk but only some actually lock. Most will unlock OK... requiring less actuator energy?. All door manual locking is OK. I would assume from what you have said that the signal from the driver's door actuator to the control module drives the actuators thru switching in the control module.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Yes correct was the control module checked?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
no. what check would you suggest?. Nothing detailed has been done as there is an output.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
There might no be a strong enough signal from the control module. The drivers latch there is nothing bent correct?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Drivers latch operates normally with key, manually and wirelessly and feels normal. The passenger door always locks/unlocks OK with the drivers and the rest if they feel like it. Maybe 12V supply to module or faulty switching /solid state relays? I cant believe all intermittent actuators are faulty.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
No that's doubtful it's losing it from the relay not operating correctly have you tried swapping relays ?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I take it then that they are discrete units for each circuit in the control module?
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Yes it can also be losing the signal through the control module which I have seen before .
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Have removed the module and checked...it has no exterior markings on it except the attached radio module has "8000" scribed on it. The control module has a PCB with "FAI-586M" on it and two Shori 12V SPDT relays on it. Does this sound familiar? Would be handy to have another PCB!! The drivers actuator is Vision brand with V032719C1 on it. Does this sound familiar?
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Yes it does . I would try another PCB if you have one or from a salvage yard next.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Do you think it and the Actuators are genuine Landrover?
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Sounds like the issue.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Do you have any circuit or interconnection diagrams for the central locking?
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Let me see what I can find.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Ok. in the meantime I will try to get a replacement module.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Ok.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
relays and control module operation OK. Master actuator and one other were intermittent or low force.Fortunately there was another master being used as a slave so I could replace the drivers and prove the system OK. Wainting for replacement two two- wire actuators to arrive.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Ok sounds like the issue keep me posted.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
This is now resolved.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
What was the issue . Sorry had family emergency this weekend.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
the master was faulty as previously advised and one other slave had low thrust.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Excellent glad it fixed. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated . If you ever need anything else let me know.
