k. I don't know if you are a tech or a just working on your own vehicle so we may have to fine tune the answer. I only know as much about your problem as you have told me in your post, so my answers will be based on what you tell me so please add all the details you can.
What is the year, model and engine please?
04 Silverado Duramax
OK, how often does this happen?
How often does it happen?
Without my trailer not very often. With my trailer it could be once or twice aday or several times ther is no set pattern but more often under load.
Ok, if the wiring is good and the sensor is good, this could be something with the oil pump drive
The gear is driven by the timing set, but there is no key on the shaft so if for some reason that was not tight enough the oil pump drive could slip.
Thank you. I will be seeing my dealer today. I have asked about the oil pump several times with other Technicians. How do I get back to you?
You can reply at any time for follow up information regarding this issue, even after you accept my answer and I will reply.
It is not common for the pump drive to fail, but it does happen the odd time.
