Thanks Brian, but got sorted yesterday afternoon. it was the overhead telephone wires interfering with radio transmission! (Basically the fob was not emitting a signal)
First we were asked to try using the fob within a toilet roll cylinder covered in tin foil, then a couple of other ideas to isolate from interference - then old fashioned pushing the car down the road away from the overhead wires. The last method was the one that worked! Think neighbours new WiFi might be the root cause as weve parked car in same place with no problem before...Anyway - one to add to your list! (By the way - did try locking and unlocking the car with manual key several times in succession prior to emailing just answer)
