Hi there, I have a 2007 MINI Cooper S that is going into limp

Customer Question

Hi there, I have a 2007 MINI Cooper S that is going into limp mode. I've had a shop look at it and they were able to pull code 2885 from the car but I'm having difficulty finding out any information on that code. Do you know what is for and what might cause it? Thanks! Gary

PS. I believe the code corresponds to "boost pressure deviation, plausibility". Where is it deviating? It is comparing boost pressures at which two points looking for any difference?

Optional Information:
Year: 2007
Make (other): MINI
Model: Cooper S

Hi there hope i can be of assistance.

Was this the only fault code on the system?

What does the vehicle do before it enters limp home mode?

Thanks bob

I also get a 2A74 code but that is do to my after market downpipe.

The vehicle doesn't seem to have power just before going into limp mode. It does still build boost (I have a boost gauge) thouh.

It is probably coincidental but I had the oil changed in it two days prior to the first time it went into limp mode. The local shop I took it to did do a smoke test on the intake/manifold. No leaks.

thanks,
Gary
