A Vauxhall Zafira 56 registration starts..mile..stall

Customer Question

We have a Vauxhall Zafira 56 registration fitted with a 1.6lt twin port petrol engine, the fault we are experiencing is: car starts from cold normally with an idle speed of 1,100, runs well for first mile and then for no apparrant reason wants to stall until the engine has done approx 6 or 7 mile and then seems to be ok and runs normally. We have also experienced on some occasions a loss of power when trying to accelorate but on other occasions it accelorates normally. Do you think there could be some type of sensor problem?

Sounds like a faulty mas air flow sensor. Was this checked . Is the check engine light on?

Ok has the mass air flow sensor been checked?

Have fitted a new mass air flow but it has made no difference. This engine i believe is fitted with a twin port device which recirculates exhaust gases and can be problematic with stalling and lack of power, could this be the fault? On most occasions the engine runs absolutely fine and only seems to be a problem between warming up periods and on occasions when warm but underload there seems to be very little power. If you think this could be the problem is it possible to disengage this system and if so how?

Yes that can very well be the issue. Did you use a factory or aftermarket mass air flow sensor?
