2003 SAAB: dashboard--it works fine now..CD changer..player leads

This answer was rated:

to Mark N (or whomever):
Got the 2003 SAAB 9-3 "150" radio fixed-- main issue was the radio unit behind the dashboard--it works fine now. However, in the process, the system now fails to recognize the 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Changer itself seems mechanicaaly OK--insert,eject--but in-dash head display does not have CD listed as an option and I am told that pushing a CD button on the player leads to an error message (where??). Any thoughts?

Bob C.

Hello again Bob-

This sounds like a programming issue. When the new radio head unit is installed, it needs to be "added" electronically to the car, which tells it what equipment is installed on the car. It's done with a Tech 2 scan tool that has Saab software installed in it.

Should take about 15 minutes to do, so it shouldn't be too expensive.
