Mazda Mx-6: car is started there is a loud ticking noise...knock cuz

Customer Question

I have a 90's model Mazda Mx-6. When the car is started there is a loud ticking noise. I would not call it a knock cuz it does not sound like one, or any metal to metal. The noice is quite loud at an idle but when you start going it goes away. The car runs strong and drives fine. Would you might know what it could be? I have hear a rod, a Wris pin??? Maybe lifters

Based on the information provided I would have to say it is in fact hydraulic lifter noise that you are hearing.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

is that why the noise goes away when you accellerate

Expert:  Hayden w. replied 7 years ago.

yes that is correct, when engine speed is increased the oil doesnt have time to 'escape' from the faulty lifter also oil pressure is higher.

is it very deadly for the motor, or could it go for a while and be fine?
Expert:  Hayden w. replied 7 years ago.
no it is not a serious fault and will be fine for a long while.
