2002 Lincoln LS: V8 115,000 miles...rpm needle drops a half inch..miss

Customer Question

2002 Lincoln LS V8 115,000 miles.. While cruising along at 55-60 , feels normal but with even the slightest bit of pressure on the accelerator , the rpm needle drops a half inch and the car seems to miss and buck. Press down about an inch further and it smoothly accelerates. same in D5 or manual 5. No check engine light , checked for codes, no codes! Noticed this months ago slightly now it has become pronounced. Any Ideas ?

Hello there!

The only thing I can think if is the egr ports plugged up on some cylinders causing all of the exhaust gases to go to only a few cylinders causing slight misfires. If this is the case, you can disconnect the vacuum line to the egr valve or the electrical part of the egr system and take it for a test drive and see if the problem goes away.
