My stock 80 amp alternator to a 150 amp alternator..batt..gauge

Customer Question

I am changing my stock 80 amp alternator to a 150 amp alternator. I have a dual battery set up that uses a hi-performance batt isolator. Which wires should I increase the gauge? This is an offroad vehicle and I will be having a lot of accessories connected.

Your alternator will only put out Amps As needed You will need to increase the guage wire from the alternator to the any additional loads. You should have a heavy guage wire from the alternator to the isolator. You could go a little lighter from the isolator to each battery.
