1986 Honda Accord DX: have the transmission rebuild

Customer Question

On a 1986 Honda Accord DX, If the speedometer connection on the transmission does not work. I know the speedometer cable is good. do we need to have the transmission rebuild or does that section come off?

did you remove the power steering speed sensor from the transmission ?

no I have not removed it. it looks like some one removed it before I started working on the car. It looks to be wired on. I am going to take a closer look at this part.

ok the most common problem when this is removed the speed sensor is not installed correctly and the bolt is put in breaks the ear off the sensor. remove this and see if the unit spins.
most likely the power steering speed sensor will need to be replaced.
