Resolved Question:

I have a 2003 Kia Rio and there is a humming sound coming from the car as you are driving, I had the muffler checked and it is fine. It seems the faster you go the louder it sounds. would you have any idea what this could be.

Hello I will help you with your question,

This may be a wheel bearing,

Does the noise get louder when you gently swerve from side to side?

Does it change if you apply the brakes?

If you shift to neutral while rolling does the noise change?

Let me know more about the noise and I will help you track it down

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

when you slow down or apply the brakes it stops.

Expert:  George H. replied 7 years ago.

If it stops when you apply the brakes the brake pads may be worn out or there may be a ridge of rust on the edge of the rotor that is causing the noise. If you are not up to doing brake work you should ask a shop in your area for an inspection of the brake system AND tell them about the noise you are hearing so that they can diagnose where it is coming from
