I have a 2007 Hyundai Tucson, 4 Cly. 2.0 Liter , 4spd. Auto. My question is this. I need to chance my timing belt , and I am getting two difference of opions from a Midas mechanic, and the Hyundai. The Midas Mechanic say I will also have to replace my water Pump as well as my timing belt, and his total came out to 599.00. I called the Hyudae service dept. and they stated the I do not need to replace the water pump to get the timeing belt changed. and they gave me a flat price of 399 with the A/c belt. What is your opion ?
The water pump does not need to be replaced. The only time it is recommended is when the pump runs off the timing belt and in this model it doesn't.
When you say runs off the timeing belt do u mean connected?
Correct. On some models the belt spins the water pump, but on this model it doesn't.
