Expert's Answer

OK.. You have the 1.6L engine.

The timing belt instructions are the same for the 1.5 and the 1.6.. so you are in good shape on that.

Hope it helps!

we just bought all new stuff for the motor because it over heated so we replaced a lot of things but we thought it was a 1.5 motor and got the parts for that size would that matter a lot. and do i just follow that pdf file u sent to do the timing.

Expert's Answer

No, they are the same engine.. same parts. The only difference is the 1.5 is a SOHC, and the 1.6 is a DOHC engine. The head gaskets are the same part number.

Yes, you would follow the same pdf file for the timing belt.. same same.Cyber Tech40076.3488210648

so where do they get the extra 100cc from, slightly shorter pistons? when running, which way does the crank pully run, clockwise? and when exhaust & intake cam lobs face oppisite each other at 90 degrees to the followers, what stroke is that piston on?

Expert's Answer

Yes, the engine turns clockwise.
Same piston bore.. longer throw on the crank.

sorry mate my husbands just wants to know the answer to that last question

when exhaust & intake cam lobs face oppisite each other at 90 degrees to the followers, what stroke is that piston on?

Accepted Answer

That would be the point of ignition (TDC) on the #1 cylinder.. when you put those marks the way they are in the picture.

I understand the concern, as this is an interference engine, and if done wrong, then it could bend some valves.. Just put them together (like in the picture), and make sure the crank timing mark is lined up before you tighten the cams down on the head.Cyber Tech40076.3909327546
