I have a problem with my 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette. At first the AC/heater fan and other items would run after taking the key out and wouldn't shut off. Now the items on the panel such as AC, fan, rear defrost, etc. will only work sporadically. Also, the sensor to turn on the lights at night quit working at the same time. My brother who is a mechanic mentioned the ignition switch may be the problem, but unfortunately he doesn't live nearby. Anyone had this problem? did not match with any Web results.

Might be the switch but I would start looking for a short. are you going to do the work yourself? If so let me know how handy you are and I might be able to help you trace it. I have same van Thanks Dan
I won't do the work myself but I could pass the info along to my mechanic brother who is 3 hours away, I would take it to him before hiring anyone but it would be nice to have an idea before I get there for parts, etc. Is there anything else I can test to see which is most likely the problem? The only time the fan seems to come on is if it is left on when the car is turned off, then when the car is restarted, it sometimes works. Thanks for your help!!
Chaseing wires. I bet he can trace your short. Thanks dan
