I have a '99 plymouth breeze. and my speedometer and odometer just stopped working and my car wont shift out of first gear. Any idea what could be wrong?

Do you have any lights on in the dash while running? Check engine light?

Ok well I would suggets having the vehicle scanned for service codes. If the light is on you will have a code that the vehicles computer picked up. Advanced auto or Auto zone will do this scan for free. They do this in the hopes of selling you any parts you might need. It sounds like you may have a bad speed sensor which the scan should detect. This can cause the vehicle not to shift and it will lose its speedometer. This is where to start and is where any mechanic would start as well.
