How much should I pay to R&R a 2.4 Kia optima engine. I bought the car site unseen via internet and it appears that it is seized.
Year: 2002Make: KiaModel: OptimaEngine: 2.4 Already Tried: I just bought the car sight unseen, via internet. It would not turn, so I charged the battery thinking it was weak, after charging fully, I tried to start and nothing not even a solenoid noise, I tried to tap starter with soft mallet and nothing. I proceeded to turn the crank with a socket and did not get any movement. Unless there is some trick or device such as a crank sensor which locks the crank to prevent valves from kissing pistons. I think the engine is seized and I must pay for a motor R&R. How many hours does it take. If you know a easier and softer way to get the Kia running please let me know.
Hi how are you,if crank won't move it is seized,it is going to call for 12.5 hours labor depending on what the shop or person who does the install for you labor rate per hour is,will determine your bill, hope this helps.
