It now has a slight rattle in low gears, prob because it has been out of oil 3 times! please give me some advice on this. it is a 2.0, automatic, with 115,000 miles on it. thank you, renee

Turbo Beetle? Have you owned it since it was new?

Customer replied 1017 days and 22 hours ago.

no, it has had one other owner. i have had it since 2006. She had a hitch on the back of it which makes me nervous.

And it probably should. If you have had the motor checked for external leaks and there are none to be found, it means that you are loosing oil past the internal engine rings and valve seals. You best bet is to check your oil every other fill up so that you do not run it out of oil. the only other option is to rebuild or buy a rebuilt motor and have it installed. If it helps any we have had VW that have gone 50-60 thousand miles with the customer vigilant about checking oil level and keeping it filled up.

Hope this helps,

Michael

do u think the oil is getting into the coolant system or just burning off?

It is being burned though the engine. The motor that is in your VW is a very tuff little motor. If you had oil in the cooling system you would probably also have coolant in the oil or blowing white smoke out the tailpipe. The internals of the motor just have excessive play in them and are alowing oil to go past the rings and valve stem seals.
