Customer Question

I have a dodge avenger 1999. and when I am driving down the road my car with just shut off. But in a few hours my car will start again. what can that be? When I try to start my car back after it shuts off. My car acts like it is out of gas.

Already Tried:
Well we have checked for bad gas. The fuel pump is working fine. and I am not really sure what else was looked at.

It sounds like a failing fuel pump these can cause this problem when vehicle warms up. Do a fuel pressure test if low replace pump if fuel pressure is good remove a spark plug while problem is happening if no spark or weak replace distributor. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

ok I was also told it could be the coil getting hot. Could that be correct.

The coil is built into the distributor, but yet this sounds like a very possible problem. If no spark replace distributor assembly. Let me know if you need anything, thanks.
