1999 Toyota Camry: oil light came..yesterday after a 200 mile trip

Resolved Question:

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry that is using oil. There is oil on the "valves"
(not much) but it is getting used up. The oil light came on for the first time
yesterday after a 200 mile trip. I had the oil changed and returned home
without any problem. What repairs need to be done and how much will it

Thank you so much

This most likely means the valve seals are leaking and need to be replaced. It is a 11 hour job and about $200 in parts so you would be looking at around $1300 total if you have the 4 cylidner. If you have the V6 it is about a 15 hour job. If oil is not leaking much you may want to consider leaving it alone and just checking the oil. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Thank you for the quick response. I am to assume that if it is not leaking that much I can continue to monitor the oil and replace as needed.

Correct, if its not leaking much I would just add oil as needed unless it gets really bad. Thanks again.
