i have purchased a mazda protege 1998 auto transmission car 4 cyl. yesterday. when i drive it gives jerk in the begining. is it the transmission problem or the timing belt. i feel iam cheated but i can't do anything now . pls. suggest me how i can get rid of the problem as i am poor person. can i use anything from canadian tire the auto store to reduce the problem for a period of somr time.

your transmission is failing and needs overhauled or replaced. to get it to last longer you can shift manually, keeping yourself out of the slipping gear as much as possible. replacing the fluid and filter will help too.. but with a bad tranny there is alot of material changing the fluid wont get out, it could buy you a week or two months.. theres no telling how long until it decides to just give up. staying pout of the slipping gear is your best bet to keep it going longer, again there is no way to tell how long it will last. could be a day or 6 months.
