cabriolet: At low speeds..steady..vibration when braking

Resolved Question:

Recently purchased a 2003 C2 cabriolet with Bridgestone Potenza S02 tires. At low speeds I notice a "whir" sound, similar to a snow tire sound. I also get a similar snow tire steady rumble/vibration when braking. Again noticeable at low speed. Is this normal? An outcome of the tire design? indicator of bad tire? indicator of a bearing problem? How can I tell. The car has 33,000 miles.

It sounds like a bearing and should be easy to find if it is that noticable. You can jack the side you suspect up and manually spin the tire and listen for a rough sound. You can also manually manipulate the tire sise to side and up and down to check for excessive play.
