I have a 1995 Rodeo Izuzu. 24 valve, 6 cylinder twin cam. Problem is when it starts running a little bit it rattles from the bottom of the motor. The engine does have a lot of miles. I do know that its not muffler or exhaust. Diffently motor noise that I hear from the bottom. Rattle starts softly then gets louder as it runs.
Optional Information: Year: 1995Make: IsuzuModel: rodeoEngine: 24 valve-V6 Already Tried: nothing at this point. trying to figure if this is going to be very costly as to spend the money dependig on age. However this vehicle has a sentimental value to both my wife and myself.
hiCustomer mostlikely the rattle is comming from the heat shields for the exhaust system, either, the exhaust manifold heat shield,or the catalytic convertor heat shield. I dont think you have to worry about anything "major" so to speak,, it just might be time for a little welding or replacement
thanx
joe
joe could it be possible that it could be comming from the crank shaft
not a rattle, what you can do though, is while the engine is running, take a look at the crankshaft and see if the pulley is wobbling or looks damaged, if it doesnt , you should not have a problem in that area,, although you could have a broken spring, inside the valve cover causing this, but I doubt it, because the engine is still running good, I assume.
we have not ran the car anywhere because we were afraid it might damge further. It has power and runs as usual. We have kept maintenance and required oil changes on this as it is a old model. Will it her Joe to DRIVE THIS VEHICLE to a repair shop. Lifters has a tick to it but was told this is normal for the age and miliage. I will check the pully but as mentioned the car still seems to have same power and its normal running ability
no I dont think you have to worry about anything, and the tick does accompany some older vehicles, so that you dont have to worry about. It will also be fine to drive it to the repair shop, you'll be just fine
the main pully at bottom appears to be wobbling while it was running. Would this still be safe to driveto repair shop and if this is a pully or crankshaft problem. Is this a major repair. Joe you seem to be very informative and you will be paid for your time
thank you, XXXXX XXXXX I dont believe it is a crankshaft problem, I believe that the pulley is coming loose, and will need to be tightened, if you are handy then I would, just try and tighten whatever bolts are there, if not, then fine, if the pulley comes off then you risk the chance of the vehicle overheating plus you will not have any power steering, If you have triple aaa, then have it towed to the shop, because I couldnt live with myself if you got hurt in any way, although I dont believe this is a major fixing, I do believe it can cause some problems, hopefully , you dont live to far from the shop, I guess what I am trying to convey to you, is if the pulley is wobbling like you say , dont drive it to the shop, tow it, when you get there tell them that you were a little nervous about driving it there and you would like them to inspect /tighten you crank pulley
