My amber suspension fault light is coming on. What should I do? I have a 2006 Range Rover Sport. How long do I have before anything serious happens?

Hi, Thanks for using JustAnswer.

Well this light is indicating a fault in your system, If you dont have any air leaks (not common) then you should be able to continue driving the vechicle for a week or so with no problems other than the air suspension will not adjust. But if you do have a small air leak then the vechicle could lower to its bump stops in which case you will probably require a tow, since driving it in this state would be very uncomfortable and a bit dangerous.

If your Range Rover Sport is supercharged or has the dynamic responce sway bar system this light can also indicate faults with this system, In which case the sway bar becomes "locked" and you wont quite have the same handling performance as usual, but the vechicle will be safe to drive (basicly you will not get the high performance corning cababilites that this system controls)

I hope that helps, if you have any concerns or want to cover something in more detail just reply back and I will do what I can

Thanks

Dave

Ahh well first thing will be to have the fault codes read, for that it will take a dealer or a specialist Land Rover repair shop. The system is monitoring soo many different things that I cant tell you what to repair without the faults.

What you could do and sometimes happens is if you battery has started to fail (does not properly hold a charge) this alone can tho many types of faults since the computer systems monitor battery voltage. So a quick trip to an Autozone and they will test your battery for free and replace it if needed. This is where I would start if you dont want to take it to a shop at this time and maybe all that is required.

Thanks

Dave
