I am kind of torn between buying a Mazda 6i touring edition and a Nissan Altima 2.5 S. The ratings/reviews on both cars are pretty close. I was wondering if maybe one is more costly through maintenance and/or repairs.

Hello Confused Shopper,
As with any new/used vehicle purchase, it is very smart to want to know common issues with vehicle. Many factors can affect the reliability and durability of a car - two different people can own the same car and have completely different experiences with them depending on geography/driver habits/etc. I have seen many of these vehicles in my shop, but neither for any major problems (mostly regular maintenence work (about equal pricewise for maintenance)) - As you stated, both vehicles are very close when compared. Your going to be spending hard earned money on either car, so ergonomics and personal appeal should play a factor in your decision. Make sure to compare factory warranties also. A big expense which most consumers don't consider is how much are tires to replace. Although the vehicles are similar, check the tire size and shop around for prices, they may vary dramatically. Cost to insure should also be a factor. Thanks and good luck, Dave
