Hi, I just recently purchased a 1979 Land Rover Petrol 109 Defender Series 3 made in the UK. There are no seat belts in the second row, behind the driver and passenger. I want to add 3 point over the shoulder seat belts. I've found lap belts for this model but I really want 3 point over the shoulder seatbelts. How do I do that and where can I buy them from?

Already Tried:
What i've done so far is, Looked on roversnorth.com and talking with them. They only have lap belts for the second row. I don't feel safe with just those. I've looked at nemours sites that sell 3 ponit seatbelts but how do I know if they will fit and more importantly how do I install them correctly to be safe?

Hi Erik, I have to admit thats a bit of a tough problem and i can understand your concerns. This kind of upgrade is custom type of thing. Does your rover have an internal roll cage? If so this would be the perfect place to anchor your seatbelt system. But I am afraid that I cant give you setup instructions for this type of problem the only other thought I have would be to replace the seats with ones designed for a race seat belt system, that would be like a 5 point system and probably expensive.

 

I would talk to one of your local off road repair shops if you have one, and let them guide you on this problem, I know that there are 3 point belt systems that will work with jeeps using the roll cage as anchor points, and should be adaptable to your rover.
