94 Miata: I down, put the car in neutral..engage

Customer Question

I have a 94 Miata and the clutch was working just fine, I parked went into a store and when I returned, depressed the clutch to start the car and it was in gear. I could not get it to disengage and the car was lurching forward. I shut it down, put the car in neutral, started it and could not get it engage in gear.

I checked the slave cylinder and it is full, not leaking. However, the clutch peddle is now very soft. Help!

Ok sounds like a worn clutch or faulty pressure plate to me which is not allowing you to shift id have the clutch and pressure plate looked at next
