2006 verona: 75 mph and cruise control on, i used the speed control

Customer Question

driving my parents 2006 verona for the first time i am unfamiliar with the quirks of this car.

at 75 mph and cruise control on, i used the speed control to decrease speed by 2 - 3 mph. after reducing speed as requested, a minute or so later it all of a sudden shifted down and slowed by more than 10 mph (went from about 72 mph to just over 60 mph).

what causes this?
