My car air conditioner is blowing out hot air..compressor

Customer Question

My car air conditioner is blowing out hot air. The guy at the auto parts store said I have to reset the compressor before adding freeon. Can you tell me how to reset it? It is a 2001 Firebird Trans-Am. Thanks

Hello,on this type of vehicle there is no reset for the compressor, some vehicles may set codes in the HVAC system and have to be cleared with a scan tool before the system operates normally again. If you have repaired your freon leak you should be able to add your freon again and it should operate normally from there.I hope this helped,Thanks Pete
