ok thanks. i think i know the answer to my next question but - where is the steering column filler panel - and should I be worried about the air bag deploying?

The steering column filler panel is below the steering column and at knee level. As far as the air bag going off you should be fine but if your worried you can remove the sir fuse located in the fuse panel.
