86 Mazda B2000: by removing and plugging the vacuum lines

This answer was rated:

The EGR light on my '86 Mazda B2000 came on. I've isolated it by removing and plugging the vacuum lines to it. A new replacement will cost $250. Will driving it in this condition harm the engine? Or will I have to blow $250?

No you will not do any harm to the engine. But if you have smog laws in the state where you live, you won't be able to get it smogged until fixed. Check online wrecking yards for a used one.

Good luck,

Thanks, Bob.
There are a few (hundred thousand) smog laws here in California, so I'll have to comply soon, but not immediately. At least I'll avoid spending big bucks for a while.
