2005 Infiniti G35: I heard it has timing chain, rather than belt

This answer was rated:

I consider buying 2005 Infiniti G35 with 110000 miles on it. I heard it has timing chain, rather than belt. Is it true?? If it is, do I need to change it?
GreetingsCustomer

This is a timing chain engine. Usually you do an audible check to see if the engine has any timing chain noise. If audible check ok no reason to change. Some chains can go up to 200k miles.

110,000 has no major services. Trans fluid is replaced every 30k miles. Every 30k is the rule of thumb for a major service.

Great car,

Thank you for the advice. Although, what is the audible check??
To see if you audibly hear any ticking, or tapping noise from the timing area.

just start the engine, and listen to the noise?
You probably will not hear anything these are great running quiet engines, if there is a problem it will be noisy by the front timing cover.

can it be heard under the open hood? Or does the mechanic need to get into the engine?
Im GW. This timing chain does not need to be changed as a maintenance issue, as a timing belt would.
