2001 aztek: spark plugs..plugs on backside of engine, how do i get

have 2001 aztek need to change spark plugs on backside of engine, how do i get to them

Hello and welcome to Just, Super mechanic here. About your vehicle.


You will want to swing the engine forward to gain access to the rear side of engine, (right bank) Here is what you do. You can use an adjustable strap for the J 41131


Rotating the Engine for Service Access

  • Tools Required
  • J 41131 Engine Filter Strap





  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
  2. Set the park brake.
  3. Shift the transaxle into Neutral.
  4. Remove the engine mount strut bolts. Swing the engine mount struts aside.
  5. Install the J 41131.
  6. Pull on the engine in order to rotate the engine forward.
  7. Tighten the J 41131.


Spark plugs:


  • Turn OFF the ignition.
  • If you are replacing the engine right bank (rear) spark plugs, rotate the engine for service access. Refer to Rotating the Engine for Service Access in Engine.
  • Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  • Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
