Hello, and welcome to JA!! what engine size do you have???
its the 4 cylinder
sorry I should have been more specific. is it a 1.6 or a 2.0L ?
my bad as well....1.6.....to be honest i am helping out a friend and dont what is available
Ok, just wanted to make sure I gave you the right answer. on the 1.6 litre, you shouldnt have to remove any idler pulleys. the alt is the part that controls belt tension. here is the instructions for 1.6. if you dont think this is the right info let me know. the 2.0 litre are a little different.
Generator Replacement (1.6L)
Used Drive Belt Deflection 6 to 8 mm (0.24 to 0.31 inch)
New Drive Belt Deflection 5 to 7 mm (0.20 to 0.27 inch)
Tighten Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
Tighten Tighten the generator battery terminal retaining nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Tighten Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
