CHIP IS INTENDED TO TIE INTO THE iat SENSOR..FUEL ECONOMY

This answer was rated:

I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN SLRMOTORSPORTS PERFORMANCE CHIP. THE CHIP IS INTENDED TO TIE INTO THE IAT SENSOR TO PROVIDE BETTER FUEL ECONOMY. ARE YO FAMILIAR WITH THIS MODIFICATION? DOES IT HELP, OR IS SLRMOTORSPRTS FULL OF....?

DOYOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT WILL HELP PROVIDE BETTER FUEL ECONOMY?

Hi,

Yes the chips do what they advertise for the most part. The Intake Air Temp. Sensor (IAT) helps controll fuel supply. The way this works is the cooler the recorded temperature is the more fuel supplied, the warmer the less fuel supplied. Chips and aftermarket programmers "fudge" these readings to optimize performance or economy. As for other ways to improve economy, an aftermarket air intake is a financially sound decision as well. Here's a link to K&N Air Filters. http://www.knfilters.com/ A good set of high quality platinum plugs (probably Bosch for your application) is also a good idea. Hope this helps.
