1998 xk8: my serpentine belt..belt keeps jumping..all the pulleys

I have a 1998 xk8 and my serpentine belt keeps jumping off I checked all the pulleys and they are straight and spin free.

Did the belt slip of before the idler pulley was changed?

Did the old pulley have lips on the edges of the pulley?

no they were smooth

You may have to shim that idler pulley. Install the belt and rev the engine. If you see the belt wandering and looking like it wants to slide off that idler you will need to install shims or washers behind the idler where it bolts to the cover. This will push the pulley outwards and the belt will not slip off.
