1997 mitsubishi galant: tranny..3rd gear..limp mode..the ecm and tcm

This answer was rated:

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Glaant that have a p1600 code on the check engin light and the tranny is stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear (limp mode). I have looked at both the ECM and TCM and both have power and are grounded. Any ideas??

Hi Dennis and welcome to Just Answer!

Here is the schematic for the code you have, it is a communication code. It is either going to be a bad PCM, TCM, or a poor connection between the two. I check for bulletins and found none.
