Are you using an oil filter wrench to remove this filter? What year make model and engine are you working on?

Reply to carhelp4uhere's Post: Yes, I have bent two oil wrenches. The engine is a Mercruiser 6.2 liter.

Are you using a strap style oil filter wrench?

Well that thing must really be on there. I have had filters get stuck a few times. I have had them go as far as me having to remove the canister part of the filter and use a chisel on the lower part of the filter to make it turn. This is never a good thing though. I really cannot say I have much experience with the Mercruiser engines at all though. I will opt out to see if any other experts can give any insight on this problem. Good luck to you!
